Who We Are

The Garden Church exists to:
Make Disciples &
Model the Gospel
Helping people know Jesus, by living lives that show Jesus.

A Disciple is:
One who will be with Jesus, become like Jesus and do what Jesus did.

The Gospel is:
When we believe and receive all that Jesus has done, God sees us as He sees Jesus.
Because He is, I am.

Values
Our values work together like a garden.
We are rooted in Christ, as we abide in His presence.
We train and grow, as we engage in His practices.
We branch out, bearing fruit that multiplies in our proclamation.
PRESENCE
Be with Jesus.
PRACTICE
Become like Jesus.
PROCLAMATION
Do what Jesus did.
Every space of discipleship at our church is built on these values.
From small groups to Sunday gatherings we will
abide in His presence, engage in His practices, and proclaim His gospel.
Vision
Imagine if we were a people marked by:
Trust in His Word
Transformation in our worship
Training for godliness with one another and
Proclamation of the gospel with our voices & lives

TRUST IN HIS WORD
His Word shapes our knowledge of who He is and how He loves.

We cannot trust who we do not know. And when it comes to knowing God, we do not have to guess. For He has spoken! God reveals Himself through His Word, and invites us to know Him and trust Him through that revelation.

TRANSFORMATION IN OUR WORSHIP
Our Worship is our life lived in direct response to who He is and how He loves.

His Word teaches that we are dead in our sin, and that He came to do something about it, in Christ (Eph 2:1-10).
GOD LOVES US INTO LOVING.The result is transformation. Beginning first with our heart (Deu 6:6), overflowing into our household (6:7) and finally moving outward into our spheres of influence (6:8-9).
TRAINING FOR GODLINESS WITH ONE ANOTHER
With One Another we are better. Others will know us as His disciples through our rhythms & relationships.

Teaching focuses on information while training focuses on application. There is a spiritual battle waging war for the hearts of all men. And since we are called to be doers of the Word, not just hearers (James 1:22-25), we must practice the rhythms of grace in relationship with one another (Hebrews 12:11).

PROCLAMATION OF THE GOSPEL WITH OUR VOICES & LIVES
At the intersection of our stories and the gospel is His church.

We are called to join God on mission. Reclaiming the hearts of men, by proclaiming His gospel of grace. His church must be the place where we Trust in His Word, Transform through our worship, & Train for godliness with one another. The place where we rest in, rely upon and radically display the gospel through word & deed by understanding our story in consideration of the greatest story ever told.

Rhythms
Acts 2 provides a beautiful example of how the early church made disciples and modeled the gospel. From this come our 10 distinct rhythms that are unpacked below.
God has spoken through His Word. In it, He teaches us who He is and how He loves. A daily rhythm of reading, meditating on, and applying it to our lives is necessary in order to know Him and show Him.

One of the most important elements in any relationship is communication. Prayer is just that: engaging God in conversation, sharing our hearts with Him, and spending time listening to His voice, both individually and in community.

We were created for community. The Greek term "ecclesia" translated as church in the New Testament, literally means gathering or assembly. Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that we might be sanctified and made holy in relationship with one another. The world recognizes His disciples through our fellowship.

Worship - (Acts 2:26-28, 43, 46-47)
As children of God, it is important to consistently set aside time for awe and wonder, remembering who God is and what he has done. When we put him on display, we give him the glory. In all circumstances, we are called to practice God-centered worship.

Repentance - (Acts 2:37-39)
Jesus saves those who believe and call upon his name. Saving grace is once and for all (justification), but also a continual invitation to repent. With the help of the Spirit we take inventory of our lives, humbly and honestly confess, and turn away from our sin, and turn toward God in surrender. Through Jesus' offer of forgiveness, we receive true freedom.

Generosity - (Acts 2:44-45)
Giving demonstrates our dependence on God. We acknowledge that all we own has been given to us by him. In His generosity toward us, God desires that we, too, are generous and will use our resources as a tangible way to partner with Him in His work in the world and in the lives of those around us. We are blessed to be a blessing (Genesis 12:2).

Service - (Acts 2:44-45)
We are called and equipped by the Holy Spirit to share God's love by participating in the ministry of Jesus. He has given us agency with him to fearlessly influence our society and the world. When we serve in the world and in His Church, we impact those around us and reveal God's glory.

Witness - (Acts 2:14-36)
The greatest gift we can ever give someone who doesn't yet know Jesus is an introduction to Him. Sharing our life stories is the best way to show the transforming power and salvation offered through Jesus Christ. When we tell our stories of transformation, we tell the story of God.

Partner - (Acts 2:47)
Jesus prays to the Father, and asks that all who believe may be one, just as He and the Father are one, so that the world may believe that the Father sent him (John 17:20-21). Believers are not to be in competition, but in partnership. And in so doing our witness to the world brings glory to God (Matthew 5:16).

Multiply - (Acts 2:47)
Healthy things grow. As disciples of Jesus are developed they will be deployed into their households and communities, naturally multiplying. Leaders will emerge to lead groups, lead ministries, and even lead churches. To join Jesus on his mission of multiplication, we want to encourage, equip, and evaluate all feeling called to "go and make disciples," helping them realize where they might do that best in the kingdom of God.
